Our Four Step Consulting Approach

We aim to be more than your management consultants. We consider ourselves to be your business partner – dedicated to helping you win. Achieving this relationship begins with these four steps.

Step 1: Make Initial Contact

Make Initial ContactWhether you’ve found us through a client referral, a web search, attending one of our seminars, or perhaps a chance meeting on an airplane or at a conference, something has drawn your attention to what we do. When you contact us by phone or email, you’ll receive our undivided attention and our most productive advice. No client is too small, and no organization is too large.

Step 2: Discuss Your Situation

Because your situation is unique, we’ll take the time needed to listen carefully and understand your issues and objectives before we suggest an approach. Sometimes you’ll want to pull other stakeholders into a second discussion, which we strongly encourage to build broader ownership.

During these conversations, we’ll sharpen your desired outcomes and reach conceptual agreement on an approach. These early discussions begin an active partnership that leads to outstanding results. After reaching a meeting of the minds, we move forward to the next step. But in the rare event that we can’t confidently predict project success, for any number of reasons, we’ll politely tell you and decline the project.

Step 3: Submit a Brief Proposal

We then submit a brief proposal which spells out results you can expect, along with benefits, work plan, mutual responsibilities, timing, and investment. We often propose a couple of options for your consideration. Everything is clear up-front, and we don’t need a long contract.

Our most successful engagements include multiple interactions over a period of several weeks or months. While exceptions exist, one-shot meetings and workshops seldom yield lasting benefits. The most effective projects include follow-up reinforcement or ongoing coaching to make sure that the solutions stick.

We are easy to do business with and hold a master government contact which permits most government agencies to contract with us without going through cumbersome procurement.

You have a right to get the results you need. Our performance guarantee assures your satisfaction as it simultaneously sets the bar for our own quality standards. If you are not satisfied with our performance, we will fix it. And if that cannot be done you pay only our expenses and the consultant fee is waived.

Step 4: Begin the Project

If the issues aren’t clear at the beginning, our systems thinking models uncover deeper causes and problem-drivers. We are skilled at differentiating between root problems versus superficial symptoms.
